Event: Poetry Reading
Location: St Albans Central Library, The Maltings, AL1 3JQ
Description: Four distinguished poets, John Mole, Richard Osmond, Caroline Vero and Claire Booker read their poems. There will be an open mic for short poems and a chance to ask questions at the end.
Note earlier start time at library.

Thursday December 14th, 2017, 7.00pm
Event: Christmas Social
Location: A pub room, probably the Rose and Crown
Description: FREE EVENT. There will be sandwiches and nibbles and a chance to meet fellow members.

Friday January 19th, 2018, 8.00pm
Event: The Poetry of W. B. Yeats
Location: St Michael’s Church Hall, St Michael’s Street, St Albans AL3 4SL
Description: Terry Jones will give a talk on the poetry of W. B. Yeats. There will be an opportunity for discussion and a chance to read your favourite Yeats poem.

Event: Ten-Liners Results Evening
Location: St Michael’s Church Hall, St Michael’s Street, St Albans AL3 4SL
Description: Robert Peake will give his report and award prizes. Readings of winning and selected poems.

Friday March 16th, 2018, 8.00pm
Event: Poetry Writing Workshop
Location: St Michael’s Church Hall, St Michael’s Street, St Albans AL3 4SL
Description: Brian Young will be leading this event, offering an exercise or activity designed to get you writing new poetry. Bring pen and paper.

Tuesday March 20th, 2018, 7.00pm
Event: Ver Poets Reading
Location: Lumen, 88 Tavistock Place WC1H 9RT
Description: A group of Ver Poets members will read some of their poems. Entry £5.

Friday May 18th, 2018, 8.00pm
Event: The Poetry of Mary Oliver
Location: St Michael’s Church Hall, St Michael’s Street, St Albans AL3 4SL
Description: Anna Avebury will give a talk on the poetry of Mary Oliver. There will be an opportunity for discussion and a chance to read your favourite Mary Oliver poem.

Friday June 14th, 2018, 8.00pm
Event: Member’s Evening
Location: St Michael’s Church Hall, St Michael’s Street, St Albans AL3 4SL
Description: In the first half, Ruth O’Callaghan will give a talk on mentoring. She is a widely published poet and leads workshops in London, Lisbon and Bergen. She is an experienced mentor and workshop leader, and works both with published poets and novice poets trying to achieve a first collection. She will also give a reading of her own poems.
In the second half, members who have recently published collections will be invited to read from their work. Members who have had a poem published during the year are also invited to read.
